GlobeTrotter

My gorgeous sister, Linda, has enough stamps in her passport to make many girls envy her travel adventures. She also happens to love clothes and brings back some "travel tokens" from her adventures.

She just looked absolutely perfect this last weekend. A pretty beige doll. Notice how well she layers her clothing and accessories.

Perfecto!

It’s Fallen and I Can’t Get it Up

My mornings are usually pretty relaxed. However, on the day that I need everything to flow smoothly is always when I encounter a little bump along the way.

I had to pick an outfit that was cute enough to wear for drinks straight after work so I chose my gorgeous purple H&M dress. I was about to run out of the room when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. The ENTIRE seam had come apart. I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS.

I had two options. The first was to find a different outfit. The second was to try and “fix” this problem. Common sense tells me to choose option A. So naturally, I choose option B. I spend another 5 minute running to each closet and bathroom like a maniac trying to find a needle and thread. WHO AM I? I don’t think I even have a needle in the house. But I swear I had a little mending kit from a hotel. Anyway, instead of choosing option A, I think creatively. You know, outside the box. I get my handy ziplock bag of safety pins and decide to pin the entire seam back together. No joke. This is the idiocy I willingly participate in

Well I have to say that my handicraft work paid off. None of the girls noticed until I showed them my special sewing skills. My $15.00 dress made it another day.  Not too shabby Ramona. Not too shabby.
I really do need to sew this seam properly. Any takers? Haha

Boho Chic

A style that I have always admired is the Boho chic look. The style of this look is ever evolving. However, what remains constant is the effortless ease of the cross mixing of bohemian and hippie styles with a modern twist.

My gorgeous girlfriend K. G. has a bohemian goddess quality about her. Her ever changing hair, happy-go-lucky personality, and aura of positive energy is Boho Chic personified.

Here are some pictures from when I saw her last. Notice the layers, which helps create the coolness of this look.

Chains, Ripps, and a Hit of Pink

I love pink. But sometimes the colour can look overly feminine. I mean that's fine if it's the look you are going for, but I prefer to toughen it up most of the time.

To accomplish the look, I paired a pretty feminine shirt with a few harder pieces, like ripped jeans and heavy jewelry.

Whenever I wear jeans with rips in them, my dad always says (insert Sri Lankan accent here) "oh man, Ramona, can't you afford a proper pair of jeans?" I've given up trying to explain.

Ripped jeans, hot pink sheer shirt, and leopard jewelry... Oh my! Too much? Perhaps for some, I think I should have added a chain. ;)

Oh Rachel You’re So Fine!

I am OBSESSED with American fashion designer Rachel Roy. Her fashion line is carried exclusively at The Bay.

My sister and I frequently try on the designer’s dresses, shirts, and skirts in a cramped fitting room at The Bay while “ooing” and “ahing” over the gorgeous clothing. We compliment each other and then make every excuse under the sun to try and convince ourselves that we should just go for it. But I always end up leaving the clothing and a piece of my heart behind. Don't get me wrong, the prices are not unreasonable, but as you know, I'm pretty thrifty.

So you can only imagine my pure and utter excitement when I found a pair of Rachel Roy velvet and satin pants from the designer at 65% off! One pair, IN MY SIZE! Picture a sexy black tuxedo style pant with satin panels running along the inner and outer leg. G.l.a.m.o.r.o.u.s.

What did I say? Charge it!

Now this is what I call an "amazeballs moment.

What a Winner

Browsing though my blog posts / photos makes it apparent that I find a lot of my stuff at Winners.

Well I was just delighted to hear that this blog inspired Ms J. M to stroll through Winners in search of something fabulous.

To her surprise, she found a few really cute outfits, including the dress pictured below. This gorgeous social worker always looks posh – and I think that coral pink really is one of her colours.

My rules for shopping at Winners:

1. Do not shop on an empty stomach because you have to be patient and you need time
2. Shop in the “Junior” section as they have the most trendy items
3. Start browsing in your size section but then always do a quick scan through the other sizes as there are often items of clothing hung up incorrectly
4. If the store has a jewelry counter, don’t forget to browse through before leaving as they have a clearance section with a few well priced pieces
5. When in doubt, buy it to take it home and try it on. You can always return but I promise you that you won't be able to find it again.

Are you a fan of Winners or would you rather scratch an eye out than browse through the racks?
