Block it to the Max

The weather is gorgeous here in beautiful Vancouver. To celebrate the start of the season, husband and I decided to walk along the boardwalk to the Boathouse for drinks and appetizers.

I already had my nails did… so why not just go all out. I decided to colour block – TO THE MAX.

Purple top, blue skinnies, and my big yellow bag is what I decided to wear. I was worried about pulling this off but it worked quite well. I did my hair in a loose braid to keep things casual and fun.

I decided to bring along my new asymmetrical sweater – which I adore by the way.  I bought it on sale for $20.00 from a random store at the Sky Train station. The same store that I bought the blue dress I blogged about. The cable knit sweater feels luxurious.

Date night and outfit success!

Are you enjoying the sunshine?

Mischa Barton Moment

As usual, I have one of my insane ideas that I can’t stop thinking about unit I try it. What is it this week you ask? Headbands.

Never mind that my forehead is the size of a football field (please don’t feel bad this is just a fact, that’s why I have bangs), I was determined to try out this look. Stars like Mischa Barton, and my real life friends, like Ms. H. B. always look so stylish with their headbands.

I was on a mission. I decided to stop by Ardenes for a cheap headband. There were TONS of different styles. Since I was going for a Boho sort of look, I decided on a braided thin band with three beige flowers.

Thank goodness the band was $3.00.

I tried it. I’m over it. Onto the next! Good thing I don’t take myself so serious – or spend too much money on these crazy ideas.

Do you rock headbands?

Write me up a Prescription

One of the reasons I love my job is that I work with such an amazing group of people.  On a busy morning on the unit, I was rushing through the nursing station when I saw the most cheerful dress.

Me: Oh my gosh, I just love your dress
T.S: (Big smile as she says) I stalked this dress at Armani Exchange until it was marked down to the final clearance price.

This is how I started off my morning… admiring my pretty colleague / friend, T.S. This amazing woman is a Pharmacist at the hospital. Not only is she fantastic at her job, she’s a mom of two boys, a marathon runner, and a fashion hunter.

I love that she added a bright pink cardigan to pick up the pink in the dress. Imagine how easily this dress can translate into after work fun. I can just picture how amazing this dress would look with a pair of pink heels and some big jewelry.

My Love Affair with Peplum

The last week and a half was crazy. An extremely close family friend passed away unexpectedly. I am reminded of my day's famous saying... "Life is short, make it sweet." Then I came down with the flu. Yuk! So even though I am about two weeks behind, it's nice to be back on the blog.

Let me tell you about my love affair with peplum.

My love affair with peplum happened in the fitting room at Forever XXI. I tried on a little black peplum dress thinking that it would not flatter my curvy figure. To my surprise, it was extremely flattering. It hugged my waist and accentuated my hips. I knew it was love at first try on when I stood on my tiptoes while doing my hair in several different ways in the mirror.

This was serious... Peplum and I were officially together.

I had to choose an outfit for a fun night out on the town with my friends a few weekends back. I pulled out three possible outfit choices and interestingly enough, they all involved an element of peplum! I had to incorporate black tights for a breezy Vancouver evening. I also knew that I wanted to pair my outfit with a large chunky necklace. I decided to be daring and chose to wear a pair of purple ankle boots with the outfit.

My outfit choices were:

 Black Top: Max Studio
Floral Skirt: Forever XXI
Blue Skirt: Charlotte Russe
Dress (bottom right): Enough About Me (Winners)
Reversible Necklace: Amrita Singh

The winner was:

 Ankle Boots: Spring

What do you think? Will you have a fling with peplum?
