Flirty Summer

Do you know that men are instantly more attractive to women when they wear a white shirt / t-shirt with a pair of jeans? This is not just a Ramona fact. A scientific research study showed that men in plain white t-shirts were %12 more attractive than when they wore something else.  Just picture it ladies. It’s true right?

I think white is flattering on women and men. Too often women shy away from a white top because we think it my show our “trouble areas.” This is not true. When you find a white top that is cut appropriately for your body, it can be one of the most flattering / go-to pieces on your closet.

White shirts and t-shirts are a staple in my closet. I am always looking for simple white cotton ts and white button down shirts.
I was over the moon when I found this gorgeous white sheer shirt from Max Studio. Notice the panels and bow detail. Perfection.

I decided to pair my pretty white top with a pair of grey sorts and gold accessories.

I am IN LOVE with this gorgeous clutch that was sent to me from my gorgeous cousin Sam. It’s almost a retro glam style. Look at the huge gems and beading on it.

I didn’t want to dress the outfit up too much so I decided on a pair of gladiator sandals, which added a rough detail to the outfit.

Shower Stylings

Hello gorgeous people!

I am doing something very different today. I wanted to show you how I planned and styled my beautiful sister’s bridal shower. The pictures are not from my IPhone as they usually are.
As I am sure you know by now, I love to dress up and I take pride in styling my outfits. I feel that my wardrobe in an extension of my personality and when I look good, I feel good. This is the same philosophy I use when planning an event. Where a small dinner party or a large scale shower I believe in planning all the little details.

Theme

Picking a theme allows me to plan the entire mood of the event.  I decided to stick to pink, white, creams, and silver for the colours. I also decided that I wanted the shower to have a whimsical but glamorous bridal feeling.

Layout

I held the event in the amenities room in my building. My poor caretaker had to let me in three times before the event so that I could sketch the room layout to plan the furniture placement and décor.

Décor

When planning a party, the Dollar Store is my best friend. I picked up loads of scrap booking supplies, pink wrapping paper, hand mirrors, diamonds to be scattered around the tables, and more practical items such as glass and table ware.

I decided that I wanted a feature wall covered in Pink wrapping paper. This would add to the colour scheme and provide a visual point of interest to the room. I also decided to print out various quotes / sayings on love and sketches of bridal gowns.

I also used a lot of dainty things from around my house like two little silver doves, a brass mushroom, and my collection of white Ikea picture frames.

White paper lanterns and pink tissue pom poms added flare and visual height to the décor landscape.

Sometimes you have to work within the constraints of the furniture and other available factors in a space. The chalk board added a whimsical element. I also used a lamp from the room on the table to create a posh but home like feel.

Flowers

Impractical and a waste of money but I really don't care. I love having flowers around my house and I would certainly never throw any sort of party without thinking of displaying flowers. I like to buy bunches of flowers so that I can create arrangements myself. In addition to gorgeous vases, remember to use old jars, wine bottles, and small dishes to display flowers.

Drinks

One of my friends gave me the idea for a Mimosa bar. How fabulous! Champagne was the base to several choices of fruit, juices, and sparkling water. This was a bit hit.

Food

I knew that I didn’t want to stress over the food. I was very lucky to have help but we decided to keep things easy breezy. I printed out the names of the dishes on place cards and added little flowers from the dollar store to each of the place cards.

The cake was the star of the show. One of my friends (thank you Ola) made this delicious homemade cake and cupcakes. This masterpiece was the finishing touch to this party.

Salt and Pepper

Salt and pepper are the two best spices right?

As I said yesterday all the girls were asked to wear a LBD to Linda's pre-wedding festivities. It was so much fun to see the variations of the LBD.

I have to apologize for the quality of the photos.  As the night progressed, so did my alcohol intake, which lead to a few fuzzy pictures. Ha! But then again, isn't that the point of a bachelorette?

The Bride to Be

Linda decided to wear a simple white spaghetti strap top and a white embroidered skirt with a pair of sky high gold glitter heels. She managed to add a slight edge to the understated elegant outfit by adding chunky jewelry.

There was something very fresh and young about her that night. Maybe it was her beautiful smile. Or maybe it was the fact that I was seeing my beautiful baby sister getting ready to transition to the next phase of her life. Regardless, she was absolute perfection. And we all knew it!

Congratulations my Love!
